WEB HOSTING

Like many others, this web site started as a simple photo album hosted free by my internet service provider. I was using a site called Photobucket for all my photos. As the site became more popular most of the bandwidth for images was provided by Photobucket, so my site remained on the free hosting a lot longer than it probably should have. All was fine until Photobucket suddenly changed the rules.

Fortunately, I was able to download all my photos before Photobucket removed my ability to access them. Many web sites at the time lost all their images. Moving the images to the same folders as my web site was a lot easier to manage and maintain, but now all the bandwidth for my web site was approaching the limit that was allowed for a free site. I did a few things such as reducing the size of photos, but eventually had to move the site to a paid hosting site.

MOVING TO A PAID WEB HOSTING SITE

My free web hosting did not have a xxxx.com domain name. The web site could not simply be transfered to a paid web hosting site. I needed to find an available xxxx.com domain name, register the name, and pay for that as well as whatever they were going to charge per month for hosting the amount of traffic I expected to have.
